Synthetic Oil Change

When we say synthetic oil change, we mean the regular interval of changing engine oil with synthetic oil.

What is synthetic oil?

Synthetic oil is man-made, not natural. It is a lubricant consisting of chemical compounds that are artificially made. Synthetic lubricants can be manufactured using chemically modified petroleum components rather than whole crude oil, but can also be synthesized from other raw materials.

How Often do we Change with Synthetic Oil?

Advantage Using Synthetic oil-Toyota L Engine

The regularity of changing oil is based on driving conditions:

    • Weather conditions-Summertime, winter season, and rainy seasons.
    • Road conditions-Off-road or difficult terrain
    • Load conditions-Heavy loading and light loading
    • Driving distance-Far or near
    • Vehicle used-is it an old one or a modern one. Is it a conditioned one or with issues like dissipation of oil?

The shortest time interval is 3,000 miles, and next is 7,500-10,000 miles and the maximum should not exceed more than 10,000 to 15,000 miles.

Why Do We Use Synthetic Oil?

First, because synthetic oil is purified, the impurities that are harmful to engines are removed.

Second, because synthetic oil is purified, naturally it will last longer, it works longer than the conventional oil.

Oils are engine coolants and they should serve the purpose properly. If they don’t your engine will overheat and when overheating occurs regularly on your engine the head gasket will be deformed, burned and cannot seal the engine oil. The result will be an oil leak from the engine. If you are not aware of it that your engine lacks oil and you drive it and when you are in a location where you cannot buy oil and you drive your car until you can buy somewhere the damage might be severe and you will incur many expenses.

Why? Not only the head gasket was burned, but the piston rings might also be broken. Or, the crankshaft might be broken too. Those are the parts that can be in danger and are easily damaged when the engine overheats for a certain time.

Thus, engine oil is very important that it should always be maintained and synthetic oils will do longer when it comes to the protection of your engine parts. Not only that it will maintain your pocket.

  1. To be honest, I used Mobil 1 Oil and it is really an amazing choice for good results. I never tried the other types you mentioned but I enjoyed reading the information you provided about them.

My only problem is How Often do we Change with Synthetic Oil? which I asked many “Mechanics” that I visit in my homeland but everyone says something different than the other which is so confusing, But after I read your notes about it I understand more or less how to handle this and know exactly when to change it.

Thank you for this amazing post, I enjoyed reading it and I found it really informative.

    • I’m happy to know, Mohammad, that you are using Mobil 1 synthetic oil. Many users say it is good and that only proves it really works well their cars. Since we have identified synthetic oils we can use them according to our budget.

The interval of oil change depends of the preference of car owners. If they want to take the shortest interval well and good, and if they choose the 7,500-10,000 miles interval it would not harm since that is in accordance with the company’s prescription. If anybody would opt for the farthest interval the modern car is equipped with warning devices and will easily detect if the oil is to be changed.

Thank you for your contribution in the discussion.

  2. Hello

I use Valvoline in an oil engine and in spite of the specifications given by the manufacturer its strength is even greater. I also agree that it keeps the engine clean of dirt.
In your opinion, on a diesel engine, WV Candy 1900cc, what type of Valvoline oil do you propose?

Thanks for your informative article. It’s really comprehensive.

    • I’m pleased to know about your experience on Valvoline oil that it has an amazing performance. That’s good news to be shared with others.

For your question about WV Candy 1900cc, I think I have to have a wide range of research because as of this time I cannot find a car like this.

If you made an unintentional mistake and that you are referring to the VW Caddy 1900 cc, Volks Wagon is a bit exclusive when it comes to their recommendations. I’m not sure of it I might recommend an inappropriate for your car.

  3. This is a really fantastic blog post…I’m glad I came across  this post…I’ve always loved using shell products. This is because of the economical factor that you included in this post, I think however that I’ll try to check out Mobil Oil too. About oil change, i am very careful with my car so I check it at the engineer at regular intervals so he helps to tell me when to change my oil. Thanks again for the review on different types of oils and when they should be changed

    • Thanks, Henderson, I do use other products rather than synthetic oils but I see the benefits they give and this time I prefer to use synthetic oils.

I’m glad you have somebody to help you remind and check your engine oil, it is such an important part of our care and maintenance of our own vehicle.

Yes, you can have the options on what synthetic oil you can use, that depends on your budget and preference.
